Got Enough Love Deep Down

Chest Muck Plague 2014 is almost coming to an end. Day 8, but I’m feeling a lot better today, despite some painful spitting and coughing left to do. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think today is going to be a good day for me.

I’m listening to Youtube tracks of an old 70s band I’d read about, but never actually heard, called Detective. A bit derivative of the big 70s acts like Zeppelin and other Swan Song label mates. Features vocals by Michael Des Barres (Power Station), guitar by Michael Monarch (classic Steppenwolf), drums and backing vocals by Jon Hyde, bass by Bobby Pickett, and keys by legendary Yes-man Tony Kaye. It’s a little straight up rock and roll in places, but the rhythm section is great, and the keys, when allowed to, really shine. Great guitar and signature vocals, too. Stand out tracks for me so far are Deep Down (instrumental bonus track, apparently) and Grim Reaper, but it’s all pretty good stuff. Just not top shelf.

It’s almost time to wake Dawn, bu I fear she hasn’t been sleeping so good, so I’m going to let her sleep in just a little bit longer. Not too long, though; I believe she wants to go to the pool to swim today.

I finished writing a letter of recommendation for a friend who is applying to move into a co op somewhere. I didn’t even ask her where. I just know she’ll be a good fit. She’s one if those responsible, conscientious people you can’t imagine having trouble getting into a co op. I wish her the best of luck.

The new PB team are trying to get our house in order. Any dedicated volunteers who were involved in PBW2 2013 and are still interested should get in touch to see what’s cooking for PB2014.

I don’t know what I’m going to work on today, or if I’m going to just take one more casual day to recover. There’s probably a lot left to consider and do for various projects on the go, but I can’t allow myself to get too worked up about anything while I’m still not 100% better.

Listening to tribute video made for the late Peter Banks, also famously formerly of Yes. It’s very sweet music. I think I had long figured his guitar playing to be particularly angular and muscular, but this stuff is really nice. I need to collect more Peter Banks material, when I can. I already know the Flash albums and the first Empire album (did they ever record another? I can’t remember).

Dawn’s up. Coffee is served. Cats are fed. Might go AFK for a while and do some reading. Have a good day. Thanks for reading, everyone. See you tomorrow.

Don't be shy. Tell me what you really think, now.
